so much fun!
Stopped in during SXSW and had a great time with the locals. This is a must visit place!
Bears and good times
great bear bar, friendly crowd, always something happening, very central. Well, a perfect bear bar, very central, very clean. It only miss a backroom and a bigger space for smokers , and it will be perfect ;)
Nice bar
Apparently their are only four bars left in Austin. On a recent weekend visit to meet a friend from out of town, we visited this bar twice. The drinks are not too expensive and the bar staff is friendly and helpful. Our fist visit was a Friday afternoon and the crowd was a healthy mix of types. We returned Saturday night for "80's night" and though a bit more crowded the crowd was definitely slanted toward the bears more than the leather. It was a nice, friendly and welcoming atmosphere as most things bearish tend to be, and we would definitely return.
Texas Size Welcome
I visited Austin last April and The Iron Bear had only just opened. It was a quiet thursday night but that gave me the chance to sit at the bar, enjoy a beer and have a great conversation with the barkeep. Now, I live in Seattle where people NEVER talk to each other, so going in and getting a genuine "howdy" and ernest smile was awesome. It's a great crew at The Iron Bear.
love this place
I love this place, always see people I know and its just a friendly place, not to mention the eye candy. Downside the drinks seem to be all over the place. Never know if you will gy a watered down drink or one with nothing but liquor.
